The East Greenwich Town Council, like all public entities, needs to conduct business in a professional and transparent manner. Residents are encouraged to participate in the decisions that ultimately affect their community.
To achieve this I will:
-
- Encourage public comment at town meetings, and provide responses or follow-up to all questions.
- Develop the town budget over several public meetings, and make the proposed budget available for public input and review throughout the process.
- Avoid borrowing money from the Town’s emergency fund to pay operating expenses, unless other options have been eliminated.
- Avoid excessive litigation by policies and actions likely to provoke legal action.
- Respect the state open meetings act and ethics regulations. Limit executive sessions to appropriate discussions as mandated by the Town Charter and Rhode Island State Law.
- Maintain and build on the good-faith relationship with town employees, the school committee, and our state legislators.
- Ensure that Town Council members work together as a team to implement a strategic plan and agenda to enhance the quality of life in East Greenwich.
